Butler Hotel

Brooklyn, New York

As part of a larger Gowanus neighborhood revitalization in Brooklyn, SBLM legitimized a developer’s quest to transform a 1920 era Dun & Bradstreet printing plant into an amenity rich boutique hotel featuring 156 guest rooms. This 92,000 sq. ft. adaptive reuse project featured a three-story interior atrium, an outdoor piazza space highlighted with water features influenced by the nearby canal and an upper roof terrace with an infinity pool. A vertical enlargement was designed by redistributing the zoning bulk from the existing building. In addition, SBLM developed documents that enabled Historic Tax Credits to be obtained from the National Park Service for the historic facade rehabilitation.
