Hertz

JFK International Airport, NY

The 'face' of Hertz’s major 78,000 sf site reconfiguration of the Customer Service Center Facility at JFK International Airport. The project included a new 10,000 sf, two-story Customer Service Center Facility, a new 60,000 sf parking deck, and the renovation and expansion of an existing 8,000 SF maintenance building. This innovative design included a transparent and contemporary structural glass wall and roof system that provides an accessible and open feeling. The projected presented a number of unique technical challenges. Due to the proximity to the AirTrain, the design of the glass roof and facade needed to accommodate vibrations, wind loads, and water penetration. Additionally, the pile supported foundation system had to be designed around a dense set of underground utilities and services, which could not be taken off-line.
