Home Depot
New Jersey
The design for Home Depot's Jersey City flagship store departs from Home Depot's prototypical store. This store was awarded First Place in Chain Store Age's Retail Store of the Year Exterior Design Competition and published in Architect magazine. The fresh, contemporary design creates a dramatic visual icon using Home Depot's signature orange color on curved sculptural accents comprising the building's main façade and presenting itself to the daily 50,000 eastwardly traveling vehicles that pass heading to the Holland Tunnel towards Manhattan. In addition to the 105,000 sf retail floor plan, the thoughtfully-engineered system of freight elevators and escalators move people and products between the ground floor and second floor levels.
